Day 4 of Dodge

Last day of the festival. All of the poets were tired, but we were still buzzing from all the festivities. I had forgotten that I was scheduled to give one last reading. Luckily, I rememberd to check my program as soon as I woke up.

The morning's reading was with Dorianne Laux and Kyle Dargan, and they read beautifully:

Kyle opened with a beautiful "cover poem" by Carl Phillips.

You might want to adjust the microphone, Dorianne.

After the festivities, I had lunch with these remarkable poets! From Left to right, Jennifer Jean, January O'Neil, Tyehimba Jess, Joseph Legaspi, and Aimee Nezhukumatathil.

I had a great time at the Dodge Poetry Festival. It's very difficult to explain to people who haven't been. It was my very first Dodge and it was in this this urban setting . . . I can't compare my experience to the experience of the Dodges held in Waterloo. I'd do it again. That's all I can say.
