A Sustainable Pace and a Mini Break from Drafting

I've been writing almost every day since July 1st. The difference between July and August is that I took the weekends off in July and during August, I've been writing daily with a group. I'm finding that as long as I'm posting the work somewhere, I can make this daily writing routine viable, though writing straight for a full week does have me a little more spent by week's end. I'm going to try to continue writing on the weekdays all through December and then reassess. So far, I've written 44 new and distinct drafts of poems between the two months, which is a heck of a lot. I'd say, maybe a quarter of them don't need much revision. The rest I'll probably dip into during September when more journals start looking for work.

Other happenings--I've built all our raised garden beds and Meredith and I put down our border timbers for the garden. I just have to spike them into place and fill the lot with bark as well as each bed with top soil. There's no use in planting anything now, so we'll just get the beds ready for next Spring. Pictures soon, I promise.

I'm pretty worn down today because it's my day with the highly ambulatory 1-yr-old. He's down for his second nap, which is why I can steal some time to type a real blog entry/diary entry.

Heading to Portland on Friday for my buddy Sam's wedding. He's the last of my high school friends to get married. Should be great fun. I'll probably write two poems on Wednesday and two poems on Thursday to make up the weekend gap.
